Minister: Spain mulls participating in Russia’s Arctic LNG

MOSCOW, May 29 (PRIME) -- Spanish companies are considering participating in the Arctic LNG liquefied natural gas (LNG) project of Russian company Novatek and in joint trading with Russia, Energy Minister Alexander Novak told PRIME in an interview published May 26.

“Novatek is considering energy companies of Spain as partners. There are no detailed agreements but participation in the Arctic LNG project, joint trading of LNG with Spanish companies and LNG fuel bunkering in the Strait of Gibraltar are the proposals which are being considered,” Novak said.

The Arctic LNG-2 plant will be launched in 2022–2025 and fields of the Gydan Peninsula in the north of West Siberia will become its resource base.
